Our Legacy
The Story Behind Pony Pub
Cody and James Muth spent three years turning a 1973 horse trailer into the Pony Pub. They did the restoration themselves, from the first repairs to the hickory bar top. Today, Cody runs the mobile bartending business they built together, serving weddings and special events across Colorado.

01 / The beginning
From horse trailer
to Pony Pub.
The project started in 2020 with an orange-and-yellow 1973 Murdoch horse trailer. Cody and James saw the potential for a mobile bar, but getting it there would take a full restoration.
They stripped it down, repaired the structure, and rebuilt it section by section. There were surfaces to refinish, parts to fabricate, and plenty of fitting and adjusting before everything came together.
The work stretched over three years and thousands of hours, much of it spent side by side.

The details
make the difference.
James picked out the hickory for the serving surfaces. The grain and character of those boards are still some of the first things you notice when you walk up to the bar.
Cody and James took the same care with the rest of the build, working through each repair and fitting before moving on to the next.
The finished Pony has handcrafted hickory countertops, vintage brass details, and a three-tap draft system. It is still recognizably a horse trailer, with a few additions that make it much better suited to serving drinks.

An original 1800s hitching-post horse head became a favorite finishing detail. The solid hickory serving station was one of the final pieces Cody and James fitted together.
03 / Built together
Thousands of
hours together.
The restoration was finished in 2023. Before Cody and James could get the business fully underway, James became ill, and plans for the Pony were put on hold.
The Pony served its first gathering in 2024, at James’s Celebration of Life.
It was not the first event they had planned for. Friends and family gathered around the bar Cody and James had built, sharing stories and remembering James.
For Cody, that gathering will always be part of the Pony’s story.
Cody and James built the Pony together. Today, Cody is proud to bring it to your celebration.

04 / The next chapter
The Pony today.
James wanted to see Pony Pub succeed. Cody continues running the business, bringing the bar to weddings, private parties, corporate gatherings, and special events throughout Colorado.
The care that went into the restoration now goes into the service: a well-prepared bar, professional bartending, and a warm welcome for your guests.
We’re glad you took a moment to get to know the Pony. If you have a celebration coming up, we’d love to hear what you’re planning.
